The name Palatakia is derived from the Greek word “palati” which translates to “palace” in English. Up until 100 years ago, this was the name that was given to the main room of old Cypriot rural houses. This space was used for both living and eating by families of that time.
In the restoration of the old houses that were to become an agrotourism accommodation holiday in Kato Drys [Dhrys] village, the basis of the architectural design was to remain loyal to the history and the rural nature of these traditional houses, but to also add a modern comfort so as to create a synergy between old and new.
